Sam is a Chartered Engineer and a roads specialist who has over 35 years of experience in design, construction, operation and maintenance of major highways, working for a range of clients.
Prior to returning to Ireland in 2005, Sam spent 5 years as the Roadworks Maintenance Engineer at the Tsing Ma Control Area in Hong Kong.
For 8 years, as a statutory Director of Halcrow Barry, he oversaw the delivery of over €1 billion worth of Ireland’s and Northern Ireland's inter-urban motorway network.
He is a road maintenance specialist and author of the pavement life cycle design guides for Ireland and the Hong Kong pavement design manual. He is a recognised international expert in whole life pavement forecasting.
He is also an expert on performance-based contracting and has worked on behalf of both O&M contractors and clients.
Sam established McCurdy Associates Consulting Engineers Ltd in 2013.
Áine is a geotechnical and pavement engineer with over 25 years’ international experience in geotechnical design, pavement design, project management and civil/ structural engineering.
Áine spent over 10 years working with AGEC as a geotechnical engineer and project manager. She worked on technically challenging projects in Ireland, the UK and Australia including tender and detailed design of PPP road projects.
In 2018 Áine joined McCurdy Associates as Director to lead geotechnical projects. She has also acted as technical advisor on PPP projects in Ireland and carried out technical due diligence on projects in Ireland, Europe, North America and Latin America.
Áine has comprehensive knowledge of earthworks design in difficult ground conditions and her experience has resulted in her approaching every project with the core principle of value-engineering at the forefront.
Dr. Aoife Quinn
Aoife has almost a decade of experience working on multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional Irish and pan-European projects.
She is trained in the use of HDM-4 and has developed and reviewed multi-annual pavement cost models for the secondary market in the UK and Spain.
She has experience with pavement recycling and reusing road construction materials, particularly reclaimed asphalt.
She has prepared Pavement Asset Repair and Renewal Reports in accordance with AM-PAV-06050-01 (NRA HD31) and is experienced in pavement design, site supervision and project management.
Aoife is skilled in the preparation and review of Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Pavement Cost Models.
Aoife has been awarded a PhD at University College Dublin.
